From the beginning...

Hi everyone, we are traveling around the world for some time and since a few folks have asked for us to post a blog to keep tabs on our travels, we are happy to oblige!

The backstory:

We decided to take time to travel before we have kids, so when my postdoc at UCSF ended in June, it made sense to take the plunge. We plan to travel in France, Asia, Oceania, and Latin America. We got all our travel immunizations, packed up all our stuff in South San Francisco, gave away most of the furniture, and stored the rest in a storage POD. We moved out of our house on June 22nd and spent a few days at Lauren's parents before flying out of the US.

Before we left we decided to have dinner at a super fancy French restaurant where we had a gift certificate called La Folie. We then went back home to sleep on blow up mattresses with trash bags covering our windows, sigh.

Sadly, we could not pack our pet rats, Charlotte (black/white) and Sophie (white), and so they’ll be living it up in Carlsbad with the Wongs :)

Here’s what we have planned so far:

1. France
2. Maldives
3. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
4. Hong Kong
5. South Korea
6. Beijing, Shanghai and Nanjing, China
7. Australia
8. New Zealand
9. Singapore

After Singapore, we then plan on traveling in South East Asia, then back to So Cal in time for Christmas, and then heading down to Latin America in 2016. After all that, hopefully I can land a teaching job somewhere on the west coast (fingers crossed!). But who knows, you’ll have to stay tuned ;)
